“Don’t,” she snapped, gripping the phone so tight her knuckles whitened. “I saw everything. Don’t you dare lie.”

His excuses tumbled out — “It was a mistake,” “It didn’t mean anything,” “I didn’t know how to tell you.”
But Amber wasn’t listening anymore. Her mind was made up.

She hung up the phone, her chest heaving. The streets below were alive with music and chatter, but Amber felt utterly alone. Still, she wiped her tears and looked back at the photos. They hurt — but they also freed her.

In that moment, Amber made a promise to herself: she would never let them break her again.
She packed her things, booked an early flight home, and as the night wind swept through the balcony, Amber whispered into the darkness:
