🧬 Anthony tell Shayla to leave the apartment with Kai.😱
The clock on the wall ticked loudly in the quiet apartment, each second feeling heavier than the last. Shayla stood near the window, holding little Kai in her arms, rocking him gently. The golden rays of the late afternoon sun poured in, but there was no warmth in the room—only tension so thick it could choke you.
Anthony stood by the door, his jaw clenched, eyes burning with a mix of anger and heartbreak. He had been quiet for the past twenty minutes, but his silence was louder than any argument they had ever had.
“Shayla,” he finally spoke, his voice low, almost trembling.
Shayla turned her head slowly, eyes already wet with tears. “Anthony… please don’t look at me like that. You know I never meant for things to happen this way.”
Anthony laughed bitterly, running a hand through his hair. “Never meant? Shayla, I trusted you. I built this life with you. And now I can’t even look at Kai without—”
His voice cracked. He turned away, pacing.
Shayla hugged Kai tighter. The little boy stirred, sensing the storm in the room. “He’s just a baby, Anthony. He’s innocent… he didn’t ask for any of this.”
Anthony spun around, his eyes dark. “And neither did I!” He slammed his fist against the kitchen counter, making Shayla flinch. “Do you think I can live like this? Wake up every day pretending everything is fine? Pretending I don’t know the truth?”
Shayla’s sobs broke through the air. “I made a mistake… but I love you, Anthony. I love us. Please… don’t do this. We can fix it, we can—”
He cut her off, his voice rising for the first time.
“No, Shayla. Some things can’t be fixed. Some things break you so deeply you can’t ever put the pieces back together. And you—” His voice trembled again, but this time it was softer, defeated. “You broke me.”
Shayla dropped to her knees, setting Kai gently on the carpet as she clung to Anthony’s leg. “Please, I can’t go anywhere. Where would I even go? This is our home!”
Anthony knelt down, his face inches from hers, and for a moment his anger melted into pure sorrow. “You’ll find somewhere. But not here. Not anymore.”
Tears streaked down Shayla’s face as Kai began to cry, crawling toward her. She scooped him up, pressing his tiny head to her chest, whispering apologies over and over.
Anthony stood up, turning toward the door. He grabbed her suitcase—the one she hadn’t touched in years—and tossed it onto the couch. “Pack your things. Take Kai. You need to be gone by tonight.”
Shayla froze, unable to move, staring at him as if hoping he would take it back. But Anthony’s face was stone now, his decision final.
“You… you’re serious,” she whispered, her voice cracking.
Anthony nodded, his eyes red. “I have to be.”
She took a deep breath, kissed Kai’s forehead, and slowly began to pack, each folded shirt a piece of her heart breaking. The silence was unbearable. Only Kai’s soft sniffles and the sound of the zipper closing the suitcase filled the room.
When she finally stood at the door, suitcase in one hand, Kai in the other, she turned to Anthony one last time. “If you ever loved me… please… don’t hate me.”
Anthony didn’t speak. He couldn’t. He simply looked away, staring out the window, his knuckles white as he gripped the edge of the counter.
Shayla stepped out into the dim hallway, the door clicking shut behind her. For a moment, she stood there, shaking, holding Kai close as tears streamed down her face.
Inside, Anthony leaned against the wall, sliding down until he sat on the floor, head in his hands, fighting back the sobs that finally came crashing down.
The apartment was quiet again—too quiet.
And just like that, the life they had built together ended, leaving only echoes of what once was.
