For three years, he’d loved Brittany fiercely, defended her through every whisper and rumor, and stood by her even when his friends warned him about Kelvin — her ex who always found a way to linger too close.

But Dalen trusted Brittany. Or at least… he thought he did.

🏡 The Calm Before the Storm

It was a Sunday morning when the cracks began to show. Brittany had been distant lately — ignoring calls, avoiding eye contact, and even sleeping in the other room. Dalen had chalked it up to stress. But then, he saw something on her phone that shattered the illusion:

A message from Kelvin:
“We need to talk about the baby. You can't keep hiding this from him.”

Dalen froze. He didn’t confront her immediately. Instead, he walked out of the apartment, his mind racing. “Baby?” It couldn’t be real. Kelvin? The man she swore she had no feelings for?

That night, Dalen returned, silent and cold. Brittany was in the kitchen, sipping tea as if nothing was wrong. But the moment he looked into her eyes, she knew he knew.

“Whose baby is it, Brittany?” he asked softly.

Her lips trembled. She set the cup down, and the clink echoed like a gunshot.

“Dalen… I didn’t mean for this to happen…”

“It was one time… before we even got serious again. I didn’t know I was pregnant until a few weeks ago.”

“So it’s Kelvin’s?” His voice cracked.

She nodded slowly, guilt written all over her face.

And that was it.

💔 The Breakdown

Dalen walked out to the balcony, the city lights blurring in his teary eyes. He gripped the railing as if it was the only thing keeping him upright.

“How could she do this to me?” he whispered.

The memories — late-night drives, movie marathons, lazy Sunday mornings — all flashed before him. How had they all been built on a lie?

He collapsed to the ground, fists clenched, chest heaving. The man who never cried… cried.

Later that night, Kelvin called Brittany. Dalen answered.

“You win,” he said flatly. “Take care of your child. I’m done here.”

He hung up before Kelvin could say a word.

Dalen moved out of the city, started therapy, and slowly rebuilt his life. He didn't hate Brittany — not anymore. But he would never forget that betrayal.

As for Brittany, she gave birth to a baby boy — and named him “Jalen,” a mix of Kelvin and Dalen, hoping one day the man she hurt might forgive her.
