Shayla's in for a shocker - she's about to kiss her apartment goodbye🤐
The morning sun peeked through the blinds of Shayla’s small apartment — the one place she’d always called home. Her coffee mug sat untouched on the counter, her phone buzzing nonstop with messages she didn’t want to read. Rent notices. Late payment reminders. And now — an email that made her heart sink.
“FINAL NOTICE: EVICTION EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.”
Her hands trembled as she scrolled down. She thought she had another week. She thought she could talk to the landlord — maybe buy some time. But no… not this time. The building had been sold, and the new owner wasn’t interested in excuses.
Just then, her friend Iman burst through the door.
“Girl, you’re not gonna believe what I just heard — they’re turning this whole building into luxury condos!”
Shayla blinked in disbelief. “You mean… everyone’s getting kicked out?”
Iman nodded, sympathy in her eyes. “Yeah. But I heard something even crazier — guess who bought it?”
Shayla’s jaw dropped when she heard the name. Anthony. The same Anthony she’d spent months avoiding after their messy breakup and that whole DNA test scandal.
It was like a bad dream replaying itself. The man who once loved her… now owned the roof over her head.
Later that evening, she found herself standing outside his new office, eviction letter in hand. Every step felt heavier than the last.
When Anthony opened the door, the silence said it all. His eyes softened — but only for a second.
“Shayla,” he said quietly, “you should’ve told me things got this bad.”
Her pride wanted to fight back, but her voice cracked instead. “I don’t need your help, Anthony. I just need my home.”
He sighed. “You can stay… for now. But we both know nothing stays the same forever.”
And with that, Shayla realized — it wasn’t just her apartment she was about to lose. It was every piece of the life she’d built trying to move on from him.
As she closed the door behind her that night, a single tear slid down her cheek.
This wasn’t goodbye to an apartment.
It was goodbye to the past. 💔
