💔 “Shayla’s in for a shocker — she’s about to kiss her apartment goodbye 😭”
It was a cold Friday morning when Shayla woke up to a loud knock on her door. Half-asleep, she dragged herself to the door, thinking it was just another delivery. But as soon as she opened it, her heart sank — it wasn’t a delivery man. It was the building manager, holding a stack of papers and wearing a look of regret.
“Shayla… I’m sorry,” he began softly. “You’ve got until the end of the week to move out.”
Her world froze. “Move out? What do you mean? I paid my rent—” she protested, panic rising in her voice.
The manager shook his head. “It’s not about the rent. The building’s being sold. Everyone’s getting evicted. I tried to warn you sooner.”
Shayla’s knees went weak. That small apartment wasn’t just a place to live — it was her sanctuary, her escape from all the drama with Anthony, Amber, and the chaos of the past year. Every corner held memories — laughter, tears, sleepless nights, and dreams she hadn’t yet chased.
She walked through the rooms, her eyes watering as she saw boxes she never unpacked, the photo of her and Kai on the kitchen counter, and the old couch where she once sat crying after Anthony left. Everything came flooding back.
But this time, she didn’t cry out of heartbreak — she cried out of fear of starting over again.
Later that night, as she sat on the balcony staring at the city lights, her phone buzzed. It was Amber.
“Hey… I heard about the eviction,” Amber texted. “If you need a place to stay, you can crash here for a bit. I mean it.”
Shayla stared at the message for a long time. The same woman who once hated her was now offering her shelter. Life really had a strange way of humbling people.
She took a deep breath, wiped her tears, and replied,
“Thank you, Amber. Maybe it’s time I stop running from everything.”
By the next morning, Shayla began packing — not just her belongings, but also the pieces of her life she was finally ready to rebuild.
She wasn’t just leaving an apartment.
She was leaving behind the pain that came with it. 💔
