She checked her phone once more.
Iman: “Back table. Don’t be late.”
Amber swallowed hard and walked in.
Iman was already there, sitting in the shadows, his face half-hidden. When he looked up, a slow, knowing smile crossed his lips.
Iman: “You came. I wasn’t sure you would.”
Amber slid into the seat across from him, her hands trembling slightly.
Amber: “I didn’t come here for small talk. I just… needed to say it in person.”
Iman leaned back, crossing his arms.
Iman: “Then say it.”
Amber took a deep breath, her eyes filling with something dangerous—relief mixed with bitterness.
Amber: “Thank you.”
Iman raised an eyebrow.
Iman: “For what, exactly?”
Amber’s voice dropped to a whisper.
Amber: “For taking revenge on Shayla… for me.”
For a moment, there was silence. Then Iman chuckled softly.

Her voice cracked.
Amber: “I couldn’t touch her. If I did, I’d look like the villain. But you… you did what I couldn’t.”
Iman smirked.
Iman: “Careful, Amber. You’re admitting a lot.”
Amber met his gaze, fearless now.

She paused.
Amber: “It felt like justice.”
Iman took a slow sip of his coffee.

Amber’s heart dropped into her stomach.

The café felt smaller. Heavier.
